There’s more to teen sensation Justin Bieber than just a great head of hair and an army of tween stalkers. Justin actually cares that his fans know not only the lyrics to his pop hits, but also the really important stuff in life: like the importance of reading. That’s why The Biebs has agreed to host America’s Biggest Bedtime Story 2011, sponsored by the BOOK IT! campaign, Pizza Hut’s reading incentive program.
America’s Biggest Bedtime Story was created in 2007 by the BOOK IT! Program in response to a national poll that revealed that nearly half of all American parents do not have a nightly tradition of reading to their kids before bed. Now in its fourth year, the nation’s largest annual bedtime story event has tipped the Grammy-nominated pop singing sensation as this year’s celebrity reader to motivate children to read more and help them develop a lifelong love of reading.
Justin will host this year’s event by reading his favorite childhood book, Dr. Seuss’s 1957 classic, The Cat in the Hat. The read-along will feature Bieber reading along with activities, a chance to win prizes and tips on how to raise a reader.
“The Bieber fever is in full effect with the BOOK IT! program this year,” says Leslie Brunt, director of the BOOK IT! Program. “The combination of Justin Bieber with a Seuss classic is sure to make this our largest and most successful event yet!”
Readers can join in by logging on to the Official BOOK IT! Website on Feb. 15 starting at 8 AM CST. The webcast will be available online until 11:59 PM CST on Feb. 18.
Approximately 215,000 people joined the webcast in 2010, setting a new record for the event. If total attendance surpasses last year’s attendance record, then BOOK IT! will donate $25,000 to the Pencils of Promise Charity."
